Preservation of the environment

Ecological security ranks important in Chelyabinsk region. Three regional target programs were being realized in 2005: “Program of environment-oriented actions for enhancement of ecological situation in Chelyabinsk region”, “Preservation of forests of Chelyabinsk region from fires”, “Cushioning of risks and mitigation of emergency situation caused by natural and technogenic factors”. Realization of those programs has brought substantial results these last years.

The regional budget has financed the following works: scavenging has been organized of the first batch of 25 metric tons of pesticides having decayed, there were continued works of supporting the order of special guard and scientific-methods backup of the activities of specially guarded natural territories of regional concern -- Ilmen State Nature Conservation Zone, national parks “Zyuratkul” and “Taganay”. The system of radiation and chemical monitoring of Chelyabinsk region is being developed and perfected: mass-spectrometer has been acquired for sanitary inspection of contamination with chemically hazardous and toxic substances, watch officers’ automated workstations have been equipped in the cities of Chelyabinsk, Magnitogorsk, Kyshtym, Kasli, Korkino.       

In 2005 the following works have been done: went on the reconstruction of the sintering plants with sulphur-collecting installations in OAO (OJSC) Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works, the reconstruction has been completed of sewage collector and the project prepared of sewage pumping station of sewage disposal plant of the health resort “Kisegatch”. The building went on of the tunnel for utility fluids in Zlatoust, equipment has been acquired to continue with the reconstruction of sewage treatment works in Chelyabinsk and Yuzhnouralsk. The funds committed have made it possible to start the reconstruction of sewage treatment works of water disposal enterprise in Miass,  the building of municipal solid waste landfill (TBO) in Satka, projecting and building of TBO for Chelyabinsk.

In the framework of activities aimed at cushioning of risks and mitigation of consequences of emergency situations, the models have been developed of forecasting the zones of waterlogging, the concept of information analysis system for cushioning of risks of emergency situations in Chelyabinsk region, the works have been done to create territorial safety fund of documentation, reference and information bank on fire security of regional clinical hospital and regional children’s hospital.
