Te Etkul village, the center of the Etkul district, was founded in the middle of the XVIII century as a watch fortress on the way from Ekaterinburg to Orenburg, which was under construction at that time. In the eastern part of the district there are numerous lakes , among which Gorkoe, Big Shantropai and Borovushka are declared to be memorials of nature. Chelyabinsk lignite basin is situated on the territory of the district. Koelga high-quality marble deposits are widely known well out of the region. |
