In the end of the 19th century a new deposit of magnesite was discovered. The plant "Magnesite" was built in 1901 (today it is the joint stock company "Magnesite"). In 1910 one of the first Russian electrometallurgical plants "Porogi" (today JSC "Metzavod") was built on the rapids of the river Satka 47 km to the north-east from the Satka plant.
