The presence of its own forest resources of the gross area of almost 2.5 mln hectares in the Chelyabinsk region have enabled the region to develop lumber industry on its own territory, including timber trade and woodwork articles production.


The quantity of shipments of the Chelyabinsk regions own production in this sphere of activity has reached 1151.7 mln roubles in 2005.  Summarizing the results of 2005, the growth of timber trade and woodwork articles production has been 133.6%, and in the first half-year of 2006 -- 109.4%. As of now, this industry employs more than 1.5 thousand people, and the number of the employed has a stable tendency of growing.


The main types of production are sawn wood, plywood, door and window units. The major enterprises in this industry are CJSC Krasnoderevschik, LLC Laminat, mebel,  Komplekt, LLC Uralskaya Fanera, and OJSC Timber Trade Industrial Complex   Ekodom.

CJSC Krasnoderevschik is one of the leading interior doors producers in Russia, its production is exported to far-abroad countries.  OJSC TTIC Ekodom is one of the leading domestic producers of laminated veneer lumber and of complete timber houses. There is a fully closed cycle at the Industrial Complex: engineering, raw materials provision, woodwork articles production and building. The Industrial Complex can process up to 150 cubic meters of timber a year and make up to 500 quickly-assembled sets of dwelling-houses on the level of European standards.

Nowadays the timber trade complex enterprises of the Chelyabinsk region are successfully developing, steadily acting in the domestic as well as in the foreign market.
